The presence of absence
Children and their ways of living and representing the family, between Portugal and Angola
Cláudia Luena Marinho. Supervisors: Marzia Grassi and Ana Nunes de Almeida
This project aims to investigate the impact of migration on family relations, taking as starting point the life experiences of Angolan children who live apart from their parents migrants in Portugal. Search will realize how the distance of parents influences children's lives and how children, parents and caregivers reconfigure their roles in the web of social relations and transnational represent family and parenting. The organizational forms of distance parenting in transnational families often have consequences both informal and maintenance of kinship ties, or in the social representations that are formulated in relation to the family and have an impact on all involved.
